Lanolin is a wax derived from the fat of sheep’s wool. It has a wide range of uses, from medical to cosmetic, and can be found in a variety of products. In the medical field, Lanolin is used as a topical ointment to protect and soothe dry, chapped, or irritated skin. It is also used to treat and prevent diaper rash, protect nipples during breastfeeding, and to soften and protect cracked, dry lips. It is even sometimes used to treat minor burns and scrapes.
As a parent, no one ever wants to see their baby suffer from rashes. Unfortunately, rashes are a common occurrence in babies, and it can be tough to decide the best way to treat them.
Lanolin Wool is the better opion when it comes to treating baby rashes and sore nipples. The wool is gentle, breathable, mess and chemical free, making it a clear winner. Lanolin Cream, on the other hand, is a thicker, greasier product that can be too heavy and occlusive for baby’s delicate skin. While Lanolin Cream can be used to treat certain types of rashes, it is not recommended for a baby's delicate skin.
